Welcome to Art in Africa (111T). This special course is designed to give an overview of art in both traditional and contemporary Africa, its origins, purpose, interpretation, and influence in society. Learners will discover that Art is not just about producing a drawing or painting, but also that Art literally pertains to life. It represents our cultural beliefs, our education, our religion, and our values. Previously, where one would pass by a painting without as much as a glance, you will now be drawn into the beautiful, intricate world of Art, and most likely be an active participant by purchasing some work of Art and perhaps even creating works of art as an artist, or better still by improving your talent if you had one.
