This
semester you are finally getting closer to becoming a qualified counselor. The practicum is a three-month supervised
counseling/clinical experience. The emphasis is on direct counseling contact
with individuals, families, and/or groups.
This training component is essential for counselor preparation. It provides the student the opportunity to
integrate classroom learning, personal skills, and prior experience in a new
therapeutic setting with on-site supervision. Prior to Practicum, students must
have successfully completed all 100, 200, 300, and 400 level courses in
psychology and counseling in order to register for the practicum
