This course is designed to enable students to appreciate the fundamentals of what comprises a good page layout and why the principles of design are crucial in persuasive design. The student is expected to appreciate the theories of design and get practically skilled, through practical experience. The student will be able to create page layouts and incorporate graphics/photos. InDesign will be used to create a variety of projects such as books, magazines, and advertisements. The practical course will cover paragraphs/character styles, colours, master pages, and table of content to enable the student to work independently. I look forward to a meaningful interaction throughout the semester.
The
course will impart skills for the creation of publications and other visual
communication materials and prepare the student to graphically communicate in a way that will be appealing and
effective as well protect the professional integrity and reputation of the
practitioners. The skills attained are essential in preparing the learner to
journey in electronic publishing and design and develop the ability to visually express
themselves effectively and also enhance their critical and analytical research
skills.
