This course is to introduce the learners to the different types and purpose of operating systems.

• Describe the historical perspective and development of operating systems
  
• Describe the functions of operating systems
  
• Explain the different structures and types of operating systems
  
• Discuss how OS manage processes and how processes communicate with each other via the operating                      systems
  
• Discuss how OS achieve security of resources including processes running in memory
  
• Explain the Linux kernel and how it is applicable in light operating systems like android
