The course will focus on William Shakespeare as a major world writer.  The author’s background and major trends of thought that may have influenced his writing will be studied.  The main thrust of the course will be the study of Shakespeare’s literary works.  These will be divided into four categories: Histories, Tragedies, Comedies and Poems. Selected works from the four categories will be read, analyzed and discussed in class.
