The course helps students to explore the introduction to participatory development techniques which will help them understand new and changing concepts that have influenced development to what we have it today. They will explore the stages of development. They will delve into the strategies and approaches of rural development. The students will explore community participation and the principles to guide a community development agent. They will delve into the various participatory development techniques which include; RRA, PRA, PPA, PUA, PAR, PLA, and Appreciative Inquiry. They will finally compare PRA in government and civil society together with looking at the challenges that one can encounter in implementing participatory development and how to counter these challenges.
